Argentina helicopter crash is just the latest chopper tragedy involving celebrities

A helicopter crash in Argentina left 10 dead including three French sports stars.

Two choppers were carrying the cast and crew of reality TV show Dropped when they collided in a remote part of Argentina.

Among the dead were French Olympic gold medal swimmer Camille Muffat, Olympic boxer Alexis Vastine and sailor Florence Arthaud.

French president Francois Hollande said in a statement: "The brutal demise of our compatriots is an immense sadness."

But sadly, they are not the first stars to die in a helicopter crash.

Matthew Harding
Flamboyant businessman Matthew Harding made his money insurance and became well known when he became vice-chairman of Chelsea football club. His battles with chairman Ken Bates led to him being banned from the boardroom.

On October 22, 1996, the 42-year-old was flying back from a Chelsea match at Bolton Wanderers along with the pilot and three others.

Steve Hislop
Motorcycle ace Hislop won the Isle of Man TT 11 times as well as the Superbike championship twice.

He was just 41 when he crashed his helicopter near a remote farmhouse near Hawick, Scotland, in July 2003.

Colin McRae
McRae was one of the greatest rally drivers who ever lived. He became the first Britain, and the youngest ever driver, to win the World Rally Drivers' Championship. He died on September 16, 2007, when the Squirrel helicopter he was piloting crashed in woodland near his Lanark home

McRae's five-year-old son Johnny, and two family friends, Graeme Duncan and Johnny's six-year-old friend Ben Porcelli, also died in the crash.
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan was just 35 when he died. But he had already established himself as one of the greatest guitarists who had ever lived.

He began playing at the age of seven and dropped out of school so he could play in bands. On August 20, 1990, he had just finished performing with Eric Clapton at East Troy, Wisconsin, and four helicopters were outside waiting to take them to Chicago.

It crashed shortly after take off killing Vaughan, 35, and three of Clapton's entourage.

Vic Morrow
The veteran Hollywood and TV actor was filming The Twilight Zone: The Movie in 1982 where he played a racist who is sent back in time to where he would be persecuted.

He was shooting in California with two children, 7-year-old Myca Dinh Le, and 6-year-old Renee Shin-Yi Chen, for a sequence set in the Vietnam war where they were fleeing from an US Army helicopter.

But a pyrotechnic hit the chopper and it crashed on top of them, decapitating Morrow and Dinh.

Graham "Shirley" Strachan
The rock star had worldwide success in the band Skyhooks and as a solo singer. He went on to have a career as a TV presenter in Australia.

In August 2001 he was flying his Bell 47 helicopter when it hit severe turbulence and crashed into a mountain, killing Strachan, 49.
